On 19 May 2018 Adrian Phillips became the Interim Chief Executive, replacing Lorraine Norris. On his appointment he said:
“It has been my privilege to serve the city of Preston and the council for the past 32 years, and I look forward to continuing to do so in my exciting new role. I am passionate about supporting the city’s economic growth and development, and am ready to support Councillors and partners to meet any challenges head on.
“The Council has an ambitious agenda for the city, wanting the very best for our residents and we will continue to work creatively with partners to deliver results for every community and every part of Preston. Everyone benefits from a growing city and economy, and continuing the strong track record of development and partnership is a key priority.”
Nearly everything contained on this website arose during the stewardship of Lorraine Norris. Notwithstanding that, on her retirement she was treated to a eulogy by the editor of Blog Preston. The rapport was obvious – “‘Do you want a brew Ed?’ says Lorraine in her typical no-nonsense manner.” Which no doubt explains why you will not find any mention of WIPCUT in the pages of Blog Preston.
Lorraine Norris went on to tell Blog Preston about her successor: “I have every confidence in Adrian, I’ve worked with him for many years and I think he’ll do things differently but in a good way.” WIPCUT fervently hopes so.
Despite the catchy page name, what the Council does under Mr Phillips will not be a secret.
His commitment to Preston is unquestioned and he was charming to the WIPCUT member who attended a recent Cabinet meeting. So WIPCUT hopes that things will change for the better.
